Gaming industry is becoming more and more popular, and it’s only natural that every day, we get to read many interesting pieces of news about games. And that’s exactly what this article is about – to tell you about what game got announced, which one got released, or how many units another one managed to sell. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will push boundaries of real-time facial animation. Ninja Theory said it in a video presenting the new Metahuman technology and its realistic-looking facial animations running in real time. The game is developed for Xbox Series consoles and PC and it will release either late 2023 or some time next year.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores will feature a new technology that will generate dynamic 3D clouds that can be flown through and will react to the time of day. Developers at Guerrilla Games announced in on PlayStation Blog, saying that they wanted “the playet to feel that he is in an environment that could be endless”. The expansion is available exclusively for PlayStation 5.

Sony released a new PlayStation 5 update, featuring the highly anticipated Discord integration alongside with greater support of 1440p resolution or the option to transfer data between PS5 consoles. Regarding the new resolution support, Sony added Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology that provides smoother visual performance in games.

E3 2023 has been cancelled after big gaming companies like Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega or Ubisoft said they would not participate in the event. “We simply did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength, and impact of our industry,” said the organizers in the official statement. Microsoft has already announced its own show for June 11th, Ubisoft is scheduled for June 12th.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be announced later this year, says known Rockstar insider Tez2. This report comes a few months after Rockstar, the game’s developer, finally confirmed they are working on this highly anticipated title. The release date is rumoured to be during holiday in 2024, but as Tez2 reports, that date is tentative and it could be postponed.

Statistics and Chart of the Month

Console gaming is still the most popular way to play games, which also proves the statistic below. It shows the console and PC market growth from 2015 to 2022. As you can see, the PC market has been steadily increasing, with a slight hiccup in 2019. Console market is a whole different story. Although the growth from 2015 do 2017 wasn’t that big, in 2018 it skyrocketed by almost 30 %. Since then though, the consoles are a bit decreasing.


The chart below takes a look at the in-game spending in PC and consoles games. Interestingly enough, the game itself makes only 52 % of revenue on consoles, with 48 % being DLCs, microtransactions and subscription. On the other hand, PC games themselves make 61 % of the revenue, and only about 39 % in-game.

Even thought Sony has not announced any new hardware coming in the following months, the rumours are saying that the Japanese company is preparing at least a PlayStation 5. Tom Henderson, though, claims that that’s not the only hardware Sony is working on. “It’s not an April Fools or anything like that but there’s more hardware coming from Sony than what’s been reported on at the moment?” said Henderson.
